Giant Maintenance & Restoration
Hydrant Painting
Our Proven Process
A professional paint job not only makes hydrants look appealing, it also protects them from the elements. Our team makes sure that your hydrant painting is done the right way, so its finish lasts for years.

Prep
Before any paint is applied, we remove all existing paint, rust, scale, and buildup from the hydrant surface. Proper surface preparation is the most critical step in a lasting restoration. Hydrants painted over old coats — without proper stripping — develop paint buildup that can inhibit operation and requires more aggressive remediation later. Giant never skips this step.

Prime
Once the surface is clean and bare, we apply a professional-grade primer designed for metal surfaces and outdoor municipal use. The primer seals the metal, prevents rust from returning, and creates the adhesion necessary for a durable topcoat. This step is what separates a paint job that lasts from one that peels in a season.

Paint
The final coat is applied using high-performance, municipal-grade paint in the colors specified by your community or required by NFPA standards. The result is a hydrant that is clean, vibrant, clearly visible, and protected against the elements — for years to come.
